Dates to Remember
Week of Feb. 19 - 23
Thank you to the families who sent in goodies, water bottles, and paper products for our Valentine Card Exchange. The kids enjoyed delivering and reading their Valentines as well as trying some of the candies they received. Also a heartfelt thank you for the Valentine's gifts that were given to me. Plato families are very generous and make their teachers fee lvery special.
The kids have been enjoying the change from all the multiplication facts they have been studying since the beginning of the year to fractions. We used King Size chocolate bars as well as regular and mini chocolate bars to visual that the "whole" you have may not be the same size "whole" that someone else has. We will continue with fractions this week.
The FSA for 3rd grade math is April 24-25. In the classroom, I have started to familiarize the students with sample questions and question structure. If you would like your child to practice at home as well, here are two sites that you can access. Please copy and paste the addresses.

The students visited various science stations set up in the classroom this week. As we study states of matter, they have been learning how to use the appropriate tools to weigh mass or measure volume. They discovered how to calibrate a pan balance and used metal washers to displace water when measuring volume. We will wrap up our States of Matter unit this week. Next topic...Earth and Solar System.
General Wish List
If you are able to donate any of the following items for the classroom, it would be greatly appreciated!
*No. 2 pencils - the plain yellow, traditional pencils are the best. The decorative ones tend to clog the pencil sharpeners because of the outer coatings.
*Paper towels - Spills are continuing. Please check your child's water bottle to make sure the lid is secure and doesn't drip.
